Again, let's assume your dealership is an average performer and it takes about two weeks for a newly acquired used vehicle to go through the recon process. You typically move 100 vehicles through the process every month. You only have so many techs, so many bays, and so many hours in a day. That is not to mention your service customers coming in for work. There is no room in those areas for improvement. If your goal is to move more used inventory and get them on the lot quicker, your only option is to move them through the reconditioning process faster. WHAT IF YOU COULD GET THOSE 100 VEHICLES THROUGH THE RECON PROCESS IN HALF THE TIME? 1. It would get them on the lot faster. 2. It would get them sold faster. 3. It would get you cash-in-hand to purchase more used vehicle inventory faster. 4. It would get your current inventory waiting for recon into the cycle faster. So today, the true cost of an inefficient reconditioning process is not lost money due to depreciation. It is actually the lost opportunity to move more vehicles off your lot while putting more profits in your pocket. OVERCOMING THESE OBSTACLES The pitfalls built into the reconditioning processes - being manual, disjointed, prone to error and delay - may seem insurmountable. Fortunately, focusing on your processes and diligently tracking them makes it possible to implement impactful change. JULY AUGUST 2021 || FIXED OPS MAGAZINE 21http://hormann.us
