supporting the brand by talking about, advertising,
and even bragging about using Original Equipment
Brand Parts and Factory trained technicians should be
mentioned with every quote.
WHY? Because it is what's going to set you apart
from your competition. " We ALWAYS use Original
Equipment Manufacturer Recommended Parts and
Factory Trained Technicians for EVERY repair at our
Dealership " .
WHY? Because if you don't and if you use or promote
non-OE parts, then what seed is being planted
in the customers mind? It means that your brand or
your dealership doesn't really matter after all. You
become just another dealership.
TO FUTURE-PROOF YOUR DEALERSHIP, YOU
WANT AND NEED TO STAND OUT IN ANY WAY
YOU CAN. Use this to your advantage. If a customer
is getting repairs from an independent that is using
aftermarket parts, you may not be able to beat the
price. But you have a customer in front of you inquiring
about what you can offer, and only you can offer
genuine parts with factory trained labor. And yes, it
costs more. And yes, it's worth every penny. And yes,
we're going to WOW them!
Do you want your Parts and Service employees to
get more connected with the OEM you partner with?
Here's an idea. Consider buying OEM stock shares
for employees as incentives and bonuses. Help get
everyone " bought in " and on the same page.
5. SERVICE PROCESSES - It's time to re-evaluate
your Service Processes. And no, you're not going
to get everything you need from a 20-Group or another
Dealer. This is about inspecting how you do
things today from the customer's perspective. Don't
take this the wrong way. But, if you've been in the
car business for some time, you may not have the
customers' perspective. In my case, I thought I knew
what the customers perceived of our dealership and
what they wanted. I was wrong. I grew up in the
business and wasn't primarily a customer.
