INDUSTRY UPDATE
I am sure you will agree that Fixed Ops is the place to
be in the auto business today. Though we have some
difficult challenges, our opportunities to grow our
business in this area have tremendous potential. If new
car volume continues to stagger, existing customers
will hold on to their cars for several additional repair
cycles leading to increased business. Our job is to efficiently
manage that business and retain those customers
through their ownership cycle and eventually into
their next car. Mitigating Defection among your customers
is paramount.
As 2022 comes to an end, dealers who have rolled
out mobile units are quickly realizing the opportunities
with them are tremendous. They include capturing
missed service visits, factory recalls at independent
lots, servicing commercial vehicles on site, fleet and
law enforcement agency repairs, and many other
opportunities. If you haven't started a mobile unit yet,
now may be the time to add it to your 2023 plan.
Other considerations for 2023 are Customer Retention,
Employee Retention and Dealership Culture. We
all talk about culture. But keep in mind there is good
culture and culture that isn't all figured out quite yet.
Just work to make yours better each day.
My crystal ball says that 2023 will have great opportunities
for automotive service. I see maximization of the
return on your Parts Departments and eCommerce. I
see the implementation and utilization of incredible
technologies that have been developed for this industry.
And by following our publication, Fixed Ops Magazine,
and other trusted resources, you can see for
yourself what is working and how to get on board with
those products and programs. We look forward to
sharing how dealers are implementing these systems.
