STEP 1 - ACCEPT THAT MOST WOMEN ARE
DIFFERENT FROM MEN AND MOST MEN
ARE DIFFERENT FROM WOMEN
Men and women are physiologically different from
women. Why not accept these differences and use
them to our advantage? There are two significant philological
differences between men and women.
1. First, a woman's limbic brain (the emotional and
memory hub of our brain) is almost double in size
then a man's. What does that mean? In general, a female
naturally has more compassion, empathy, and
ability to connect with your customers and team
members. That is not to say that you can't come up
with examples of men who are strong in these areas
and/or women who might not be overflowing with
these traits. But this is a general truth.
2. Second, women communicate with both sides of
their brain (creative and logical). Men communicate
using the analytical side of their brains. Women typically
take the time to describe the 'perceived need'
and outcome to your customers without cutting corners,
delivering an experience that earns trust.
Be open to hiring the best person with the strengths
needed to fill the gaps on your team, regardless of
gender or race. Look at the strengths and the weaknesses
of each candidate and then choose who you
will place in the position available.
STEP 2 - DECIDE THAT DIVERSITY IS
ESSENTIAL AND MAKE IT A
COMPANY INITIATIVE
GM's, CEOs, and leaders cannot simply talk about diversity.
They must act. If you haven't or your company
hasn't embraced a diverse workplace until now, that's
okay. Own it and move forward from here. Do a stellar
job at creating a culture where women and minorities
want to work. Decide to prioritize equality and get the
entire dealership to support this idea.
STEP 3 - GET YOUR EMPLOYEES TO BUY
INTO DIVERSITY
Every person must believe in diversity to truly become
part of their DNA. All your hiring managers must look
past gender and race. All leaders must believe in equal
opportunity, and every frontline employee must believe
